Bangalore, September 22, 2023 (CCBI): Fr. Vijay Kumar M. Machado (47) from the diocese of Mangalore was appointed the Executive Secretary to the CCBI Commission for Catechetics. This appointment was made by the 92nd Executive Committee of the CCBI, held from September 21–22, 2023, in Bangalore.
Currently, he is the Secretary to the Commission for Catechetics of the diocese of Mangalore. He was born on September 8, 1976, in the parish of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Udupi, Karnataka. He was ordained priest on April 21, 2005, for the diocese of Mangalore. He did his seminary formation with B.ph and B.th from St. Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore. He holds a B.Sc. from Mangalore University and a M.Sc. In Botany from Kuvempu University, Shimoga. He obtained his M.th. in Catechetics from Kristu Jyoti College, Bangalore, affiliated with Pontifical Salesian University, Rome. He has a diploma in catechetical formation of the youngsters from the Youcat Foundation, Germany.
He served the Mangalore diocese as assistant parish priest at Our Lady of Queen of the Universe Parish, Ranipura (2005-2006); Immaculate Conception Parish, Ladyhill, Urwa (2006-2008); Assist Director, Pastoral Centre (2011-2012) and Assist Director, DBCLC – Mangala Jyothi (2012-2014). From 2015 onwards, he is the Executive Secretary, Regional Commission for Liturgy in Konkani, for Mangalore, Udupi, Karwar, Belgum, Sindhudurg dioceses, and Goa Archdiocese. He was the core team member of the CCBI Value Education Textbook Series. He is the translator of the text of Communio videos into Konkani in Kannada script.
