Diocesan Catechism Day 2017 and Honouring of Top Scorers of X Std Students– Diocese of Mangalore.
Diocesan catechism day was celebrated on 05 March 2017 at Pastoral Institute, Mangalore. Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore celebrated a thanksgiving Eucharist along with Fr Vijay Machado, Fr Peter D’Souza, Fr Gerald D’Souza Fr Maxim D’Souza and Fr Ronald D’Souza. Bishop in his homily said, “all those who have received the faith education must grow in faith. They must become the witnesses of Christ and build the faith community. With Jesus we can win over satan/temptations and achieve something in our Christian life”.
In the beginning of the mass there was a session by Mr William Colaco, Diocesan SCC coordinator for both parents and top scorers. He spoke on the topic “Faith Education and Secular Education is a tool to build Christian Communities”.
After the mass felicitation to the top scorers was held. Bishop honoured 101 students who secured highest marks in the diocesan level catechism examinations. Mr Walter Lobo and Mrs Lucy Lobo were the chief guests. In their address they shared their family faith experience and stressed on the need of faith education by parents to children. Bishop was felicitated by Fr Vijay Machado, Director of Mangala Jyothi on behalf of Commission for Catechetics and Bible. On this occasion newly designed website of Mangala Jyothi, www.mangalajyothi.com was inaugurated. Mrs Joan Montero proposed vote of thanks and Fr Maxim D’Souza compered the entire programme. The programme was concluded with the Lunch.
